EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

COLBY SHREFLER

Customer Service Representative in Customer Service

Colby Shrefler

How long have you been with MMQCI and how did you first learn about our company?
8 years. Longest job I’ve ever had.

What are your primary responsibilities?
Anything and everything involved in getting controls into our customer’s labs when they need them. From sales quotes to international shipping logistics.

What do you like best about MMQCI?
While we’ve grown immensely in 8 years, the core values and feeling of being one big team have never changed.

How would you describe your team?
Adaptable.  When I started Customer Service was also doing what we now have production, shipping/receiving, and QA/RA depts for.

What are some of the biggest changes you’ve seen since joining MMQCI?
So many! It’s been amazing to watch the company grow from just over a dozen people when I joined to what it is today. New buildings, new departments, new products, and many new faces.

What are the toughest challenges you’ve had at work?
The pandemic was certainly a unique challenge. Masking all day at work and splitting up the departments into cohorts to keep everything running as smoothly as possible to continue to meet the needs of our customers.

What has your experience been with our company culture?
It’s always been a welcoming place since the very beginning. I can knock on anyone’s door I need to and they will make themselves available to answer a question.

What do you like to do in your free time?
Spending time with my two kiddos takes up a good chunk of it. When I’m not doing that, I may be digging through used records somewhere, or trying to tick something off my list of things I haven’t seen in Maine yet.

Where is your happy place in Maine?
Baxter State Park is amazing. Staying in a cabin on Daicey Pond looking at Mt Katahdin. No place like it.

In terms of successes, which accomplishments are you most proud of?
I used to work in film/tv so getting to see my name on a big screen for the first time is something I’ll never forget.

What do you enjoy most about working here?
Besides the pizza parties? I’ve never seen more cross-departmental collaboration someplace I’ve worked. We’ve had people with PhD’s pitch in to help ship products when needed. It’s genuinely a unique place.

Where were you born and raised?
The Paris of the Midwest, Pittsburgh

What’s the last song you listened to?
Technically it was “Samba Torto” by Antonio Carlos Jobim, but that’s more work music so let’s go with “Back on 74” by Jungle.

What, if anything, are you currently binge-watching? Or reading?
I’m very excited that Planet Earth 3 is now airing. Big sucker for David Attenborough nature shows.
