Factor II G20210A and Factor V Leiden (G1691A) mutations are the most common genetic risk factors for thrombotic events. Our Thrombotic Risk (TRC) Genotype Control is an external quality control used to monitor the analytical performance of the extraction, amplification and detection of test systems used in the qualitative measurement of the Factor II (Prothrombin) and Factor V genes for mutations Factor II G20210A and Factor V Leiden, respectively.

Each bottle of TRC Genotype Control contains two synthetic alleles of Factor II DNA and two synthetic alleles of Factor V DNA suspended in a non-infectious, blood-like matrix. Each allele contains a segment of the Factor II gene or a segment of the Factor V gene. Alleles carry either a mutation (Factor II G20210A or Factor V Leiden (G1691A)), or wild type DNA. All alleles have been quality scored sequenced in entirety.

Analysis of TRC Genotype Control provides the laboratory with valuable experience by demonstrating test results of rare genotypes.

The alleles have been carefully mixed to produce three bottles containing three different genotypes: homozygous wild type (WT/WT), heterozygous (G20210A / WT and G1691A / WT), and homozygous mutant (G20210A / G20210A and G1691A/ G1691A).

INTROL™ is provided for Research Use Only.
